How to use Excel Formulas in a Spreadsheet

We move on in our computer lessons for Excel with quite a long video tutorial showing how to use Excel Formulas in a spreadsheet. We use a simple Excel spreadsheet to calculate the profits from running a special steam train service. The computer lesson for excel beginners demonstrates how to change currencies to a single Excel cell and also multiple Excel cells before concentrating on how to use Excel Formulas. The online tutorial shoes how to multilpy cell and then repeat the calculation by dragging the Excel Formula down to the Excel row or rows below. The computer lesson also uses Auto sum to calculate totals and shows how to place a calculated total in to another Excel cell.

How to use Excel – A start with simple Excel Formulas

Simple Excel Formulas

In this computer lesson for Excel we take a look at some simple Excel Formulas. The online video tutorial first explains how the common mathematical operations and their mathematical symbols are used in simple Excel formulas, the lesson then continues to explain that an equals sign is always inserted at the beginning of each Excel formula and demonstrates by showing some very simple Excel Formulas using add, subtract, multiply and divide. The Excel computer lesson then shows how to use the AutoSum command pointing at the Marquee effect when cells are selected. Following this, the online computer lesson demonstrates how to build simple excel formulas by selecting individual cells for each formula and concludes by showing how to round down to the desired decimal place.

Basic Computer Training

This is the start of our basic computer training course for seniors, beginners and complete novices. The computer lesson will answer questions about your computer, what is a chip, what is a processor, what is ram and what is a hard drive?

Designed to improve computer skills, the course is suitable for anyone worldwide and for those looking to learn about computers and qualify in The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL), this lesson will cover EqualSkills computer basics elements 1.1 and 1.2, looking at your computer.

The lesson will demonstrate different personal computers and there various parts, talk about adding accessories before giving a brief description about some of the components inside your computer including the processor, RAM and hard drive.

The next tutorial in our free computer courses for seniors is a tutorial showing how to work with windows. Microsoft Windows comes in various forms, e.g. Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows ME and others. They all have one thing in common – they all have windows. This tutorial shows opening, closing, minimizing and maximizing those windows. An elementary lesson in developing basic computer skills.

This tutorial will continue the basic computer training for seniors, beginners and novices, those students looking to learn online and qualify in The European Computer Driving License (ECDL) this lesson will cover Equal skills element 3.2.

This is an elementary part of using your computer.

In this seniors computer lesson we ask what is a search engine? For the answer we take a look at the search engine Google, currently the most popular search engine and we see how we can use Google to search the web. We use the UK Google site in this online tutorial however Google does have many regional sites around the world as explained in a later online tutorial for beginners. If you click on the “About Google” link on any Google search page you can find out lots more information about Google.

This tutorial is of use to anyone learning online worldwide and for those looking to gain computer skills and qualify in The European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) this lesson covers elements 7.11 and 7.12.
