Computer courses for beginners – Hoax emails and email scams

Continuing our computer courses for beginners and seniors we have the final computer lesson in our basic computer training, a lesson on hoax emails and email scams. This is a general computer lesson and talks about the broad threat and types of hoax emails that maybe encountered without looking at individual scam emails as these types of computer threats are always changing.

The first thing the computer lesson points out is the need to have good Internet Home Security software, with our preferred provider being McAfee. Having good internet protection will greatly reduce the risk of receiving hoax emails, but unfortunately some may well slip through. The computer lesson then takes you to the website of The London Metropolitan Police and shows their advice on fraud.

This basic computer training tutorial continues on from our lesson called using my email. The computer lesson for seniors and beginners demonstrates the reply to email, forward emails and print email commands frequently used when using webmail and an email client.

The tutorial is one of our basic computer lessons and shows, using a Gmail account and Hotmail account, how to use firstly, the reply to e-mail command followed by how to forward emails and finally points out the print icon for printing emails, the beginners lesson also demonstrates the seperate menus where all three basic computer commands can be found.

Basic Computer Training – Web Browsers the Basics

Following on in our basic computer training for seniors and beginners we have an online computer lesson pointing out the basic elements of web browsers, using the most common browsers, internet explorer and mozilla firefox. The lesson explains the what the home page is, what is meant by the term URL and goes on to explain about browsing history, bookmarking and favourites. Important for anyone learning new computer skills.

The computer tutorial is suitable for any beginner and those beginners looking to qualify in the European Computer Driving Licence (ECDL) the lesson covers elements 7.2, 7.3, 7.4 and 7.5 of the computer basics course.

Basic Computer Training – Identifying Parts of an Application Window

When learning anything new there is always new terminology and as with all new things it is essential when learning about computing that you understand terminology as part of learning your computer skills and this basic computer training tutorial helps by identifying the parts of an application window.
